A Partnership with Africa: Project Global Education Time Coordinator (Part Time)


A Partnership with Africa (APA) is an Irish Charity which supports a
partnership-based approach to development wherever it works -
presently in Ethiopia and Tanzania. Since its charitable founding in
*, APA has supported projects that focus on
areas such as preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS, engaging with
domestic workers and bar workers to challenge exploitative working
conditions. APA also engages with global justice awareness education
in Ireland.

A Partnership with Africa (APA) is seeking a fixed term PART-TIME
co-ordinator ( *% of full-time position) for the
EU DEAR funded Project (GET – Global Education Time) until **Apply
on the website**th December *. The project aims
to better integrate Global Citizenship Education in the formal
education sector in eight EU Member States (Bulgaria, Czech Republic,
Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Poland).

The project aim will be achieved through activities designed to:

* equip teachers to integrate Global Citizenship Education in their
classrooms, thereby facilitating students to become more aware of
global interdependencies and how to overcome global challenges.
* support young people to engage in global
citizenship/sustainability awareness raising/actions in their
communities, including online.
* Improve the awareness of global citizenship education and
curriculum amongst education stakeholders and non-governmental
organisations
* build coherence of approach across the eight participating
countries

The project officially commenced mid-December *
and will conclude in early *.

PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Co-ordination of project activities, as outlined in the EU DEAR
funding application, for example:

* Recruitment of schools to project network
* Capacity building with student teachers and teachers
* Management of commissioned personnel to carry out research with
education stakeholders, produce and translate curriculum resources and
support youth led/student actions
* Piloting of curriculum resources in schools
* Co-ordination of communications campaign targeting education
stakeholders
* Networking with education stakeholders
* Liaison with lead partner (CISP – Italy) and other partner
organisations across 8 European countries
* Participation in international project events/meetings
* Producing project reports and documents
* Producing projects financial reports, in collaboration with
project administrator (part-time)
* Reporting to project management committee and APA Board

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

APPLICANTS MUST (ON THE LATEST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF COMPLETED
APPLICATIONS) HAVE:

ESSENTIAL:

* a relevant recognised degree or equivalent professional or
teaching qualification
* comprehensive knowledge of the Irish education system
* experience, as leader or participant, in the development and
piloting of curriculum resources
* experience of capacity building with student teachers and/or
practicing teachers
* experience of working with schools
* knowledge and experience of global citizenship education and/or
international development
* excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to
write to a very high standard
* excellent inter-personal skills
* excellent organisational skills.

DESIRABLE:

* experience of organising or facilitating youth-led/student Global
Citizenship/Sustainability actions
* knowledge of the Global Citizenship Education/Education for
Sustainable Development sectors in Ireland
* experience of engaging in education related policy processes
* project management skills
* digital media skills.

LOCATION: based in Ireland. The position will require some travel to
visit schools and centres in Ireland

SALARY: € * monthly for:
